Nawanshahr- Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Center for Drug Victims Nawanshahr organized a drug de-addiction awareness camp in Panchayat Ghar village Manguwal (SBS Nagar) under the "Drug Free India Campaign". This camp was chaired by Mrs. Jasvir Kaur (Sarpanch).

Mrs. Kamaljit Kaur (Councilor) while addressing the villagers told about the organization of Red Cross and the activities being done by Red Cross. She gave the statistics of drug addicts in India and Punjab and told how many youths have been trapped in the trap of drug addiction. She said that today these results are coming out that in the de-addiction centers, drug addicted youths are getting trapped in the quagmire of drug addiction at an early age.
Therefore, it is important to give information about drug addiction to the students along with school studies. Sharing her views, she said that many youths start taking drugs at a young age after seeing their parents taking drugs at home and gradually they get trapped in the quagmire of big drugs like heroin. Therefore, it is very important to make children aware of drug addiction.
He appealed to the villagers to also become a part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and inspire the people around them to stay away from drugs, only then we can eliminate drug addiction from Punjab, because if we have to eliminate any evil, then first of all we have to start from our home. The youth will have to stay away from drugs to achieve their goal. He also explained in detail about the diseases caused by drug addiction.
Mr. Pravesh Kumar (Staff Member) also shared detailed information about the treatment of patients at the Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Center for Drug Victims, Nawanshahr that any drug addict can stay in the hospital for a month as per his wish and get free treatment. Drug addiction can never be left at home. It is a mental and physical disease which needs to be treated. On this occasion, Mr. Davinder Singh (village resident) also expressed his views on the ill effects of drug addiction and thanked the Red Cross team.
He asked to implement the suggestions given by the Red Cross team in their lives. On this occasion Prem Lata (NREGA Mate), Narinder Kaur (Pancha), Amarjit Singh (Pancha), Sunita Rani (BDPO Officer Garhshanker), Chandan (TA, BDPO, Nawanshahr), Baljeet Kumar (Social Audit Unit Mohali), Manpreet Kaur (Social Audit Unit Mohali), Amandeep Kaur (Social Audit Unit Mohali), Karnail Singh, Balveer Singh, Amrik Singh, Pyara Lal, Gurmel Lal (Chowkidar) and people of the village were present.
