Nawanshahr- Rural Labor Union, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar District, has strongly condemned the lathi charge on laborers by the police in Chandbhan village of Faridkot district recently and has demanded the immediate release of the arrested laborers.
After the union meeting, the union's state leader Kamaljit Sanawa said in a statement issued to the press that the police have arrested about 50 laborers, men and women. But no action has been taken against the people who opened fire on the laborers in the presence of the police.
Sanawa has demanded the immediate release of the arrested laborers, registration of a case of attempt to murder and arrest of those who opened fire on the laborers under the SC, ST and Atrocities Act, and strict action against the head of Jaito police station. Union state leader Hari Ram Rasulpur and state leader of Youth Wing Kiranjit Kaur said that despite the news being published in newspapers and social media, the police are still trying to protect the people who opened fire on the workers.
The police took a one-sided action against the workers and are adding fuel to the fire by creating a feeling of alienation among the workers. They said that whatever call for struggle the action committee formed in Faridkot will give, we will fully participate in it. Surinder Mirpuri and Ladi Kotranjha were also present on the occasion.
