Chandigarh, January 8 - Former Director of Punjab Mandi Board and President of Chandigarh Numbardar Union Rajinder Singh Badheri said that keeping Chandigarh as a Union Territory is a blow to Punjab because Chandigarh city was developed as the capital of Punjab.
In a statement issued here, he said that Chandigarh, which was built by razing 28 Punjabi-speaking villages of Punjab; and acquiring the cultivable lands of 50 villages, has the right only to Punjab and the central government should stop conspiring against Punjab and include Chandigarh in Punjab.
He said that giving land for the Vidhan Sabha in Chandigarh to Haryana is completely wrong. Rather, Haryana and the center should not have any interference in it. It should only be the capital of Punjab and a part of Punjab.
