Garhshankar 14 December- CITU State President Maha Singh Rohi issued a press statement saying that the fourth death anniversary of Centre of Indian Trade Union Punjab General Secretary and CPI(M) State Secretariat member Comrade Raghunath Singh is being celebrated by CPI(M) and CITU in village Binewal. In which, apart from CPI(M) leaders, various political parties, mass organizations and trade unions will offer flowers of respect to Comrade Raghunath Singh.
State President Maha Singh Rowdy said that Comrade Raghunath was a "vaadi" of Sami Ghola who had got the skill of struggle from birth. Because Comrade Raghunath Singh's father was a famous revolutionary comrade of Beet area. Comrade Rulian Ram Adhyaal organized the people of Beet and fought a long and hard battle against feudalism and opposed the people of Beet. Land rights were given to them and tax on drinking water was waived. Maha Singh Rowdy said that Comrade Raghunath Singh joined Babbar Akali Khalsa College Garhshankar in 1975 after leaving the job of Health Department.
The duo of Comrade Darshan Singh Mattoo and Raghunath mobilized the students and opposed the Emergency under the banner of SFI. Youth councils were formed in the villages, in 1997 Comrade Raghunath Singh was the leader of the working class organization. He became the district president and state cashier of ITU, became the state general secretary in 2004 and worked day and night for the working class. Due to which he became a popular leader of the workers.
Maha Singh Rowdy said that Comrade Raghunath Singh opposed the Emergency from 1973 to 1976 and from 1982 to 1991 he opposed separatism by staying in the front line. Opposed the black laws made against the farmers by the Modi government. Maha Singh Rowdy said that on 20 December 2020, Sangharshi Warrior Comrade Raghunath Singh passed away. His departure has caused irreparable loss.
On this occasion, Marxist leaders Garibdas Bitan, Ramesh Dhiman, Mohan Lal, Achhar Singh Torowal appealed to the people of the area to reach the tribute ceremony being organized in village Binewal on 15 December 2024 in large numbers and offer flowers of respect to their late leader.
