Una, December 4: A delegation of 11 officers from Una and Hamirpur districts of Himachal Pradesh, led by Deputy Director of Horticulture Department Una Dr. KK Bhardwaj and Deputy Director of Hamirpur district Dr. Rajeshwar Parmar, is on a three-day training tour to Bengaluru (Karnataka). The team visited Florence Flora Company there on Wednesday and discussed in detail the possibilities of cultivation of gerbera flowers in the plains of Himachal.

Florence Flora Company prepares gerbera saplings and makes them available to gardeners of Himachal and other states. Experts say that there are good possibilities of cultivation of gerbera flowers in the plains of Himachal.
Himachal government is encouraging flower cultivation
The Himachal Pradesh government is encouraging gardeners to cultivate flowers. Also, officials are being sent on study visits so that they can study new information and techniques from other states and companies. The aim of this initiative is to take flower cultivation in Himachal to new heights, thereby taking important steps towards innovation and advancement in the field of horticulture.
At the same time, the government is providing up to 85 percent subsidy to people for setting up polyhouses, while 50 percent subsidy is also available on flower cultivation in polyhouses. For the cultivation of gerbera, about 6,000 plants can be planted in a polyhouse of one thousand square meters. Gardeners can earn an income of up to 6-8 lakh rupees in 9-10 months from these.
The Horticulture Department is running an awareness campaign to promote flower cultivation as a cash crop. The aim of this initiative is to connect more and more gardeners to flower cultivation.
The delegation that went to Bengaluru included Deputy Directors of Una and Hamirpur districts, besides Horticulture Officers of both the districts, Ajay Kumar, Usha Sonkhale, Suraj Kashyap, Amit Kumar, Suman Bhatia, Shiv Bhushan, Virendra Kumar, Anupam Sharma, and Mohammad Arshad.
