Una, December 4: The district administration Una organised a session on investor education for district level officers at the DRDA auditorium on Wednesday with an aim to enhance financial decision-making ability and create awareness about avoiding common investment-related losses. During this, experts from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) provided detailed and informative information to the participants on various concepts of the Indian securities market, investment techniques and nuances of risk management.
In the session, Shivam Jindal, Deputy Manager, National Stock Exchange, explained the concepts of primary and secondary market (stock trading) of securities market as well as the difference between active income, which is earned through continuous hard work, and passive income, which is generated from investments. He emphasized the role of trading account, demat account and bank account required for trading and advised to trade only through brokers registered with SEBI. The need to check the credentials of the broker and read the risk management policies before appointing them was also emphasized. He informed the participants about online and offline trading as well as unique client code and its rules so that risks arising due to ignorance can be avoided.
SEBI Smart trainer Narendra Singh Jamwal made the participants aware of digital risks like dummy trading apps, unsolicited emails and WhatsApp tips. He explained through real-life case studies how carelessness can lead to financial losses and smart investment strategies can be adopted to avoid it. He provided the participants with a comprehensive understanding of the financial markets as well as precautions for smart investing.
Appreciating the program, Assistant Commissioner Varindra Sharma called it the need of the hour and a better way to secure the future. He urged the representatives of SEBI and NSE to organize more such sessions in the district so that more and more people can understand financial awareness and smart investment techniques.
On this occasion, District Council Chairperson Neelam Kumari, Assistant Commissioner Varinder Sharma, BDO Una KL Verma, Deputy Director Kulbhushan Dhiman, Deputy Director Animal Husbandry Department Dr. Vinay and SDM Haroli Vishal Sharma along with other officials were present.
