There is a need to save oneself and others in foggy weather - Gurinder Singh Toor.

Nawanshahr: Like every year, the foggy weather has started, so every vehicle driver should try to be self-motivated to adopt an approach that saves his own and others' lives, which can save precious lives. Gurinder Singh Toor expressed these views during the meeting of the Road Safety Awareness Society.

He said that clean and quality roads definitely create an incentive for vehicles to drive fast, but precautions are also very important according to the weather conditions. He said that it is a matter of sorrow that the 88 km long bypass from Ropar to Nawanshahr and Phagwara has taken 578 lives in five years.
The foggy season becomes even more deadly, so there is a need to make road safety awareness a public wave, drive vehicles at a slow speed. Unauthorized, untrained drivers should not drive. Check the headlights, taillights, fog lights of the vehicles daily. Make a habit of using the vehicle indicators while turning while driving. Keep checking the indicators, brakes, tires, screen wipers. Minimize the use of full beam of the headlights.
Vehicles can be driven easily by looking at the white lines on the sides of the roads. Keep the distance from the vehicle in front of you about as many feet as the speed at which you are driving. Reduce overtaking of other vehicles in fog. If the vehicle has to be parked on the road, keep the parking lights and indicators on. In case of vehicle breakdown, keep the lights on at a suitable distance with cones and fire.
Educational and religious institutions can make a valuable contribution in this work. The society will also take the cooperation of the traffic police. The meeting decided to print a special pamphlet for awareness. The establishment of “Road Safety Clubs” in educational institutions will be accelerated.
On this occasion, President S. Gurinder Singh Toor, Secretary J. S. Gidda, Treasurer Mr. Narinderpal Toor, Advisor S. Dilbagh Singh and S. Harinder Singh Ji were present.
