
Democratic Employees Federation to submit memorandum on September 2 for flood victims;
Garhshankar, September 1 – In view of the extensive damage caused by floods in Punjab, the state committee of Democratic Employees Federation has decided that on September 2, memorandums will be sent to Punjab and the Central Government through Deputy Commissioners in all districts to resolve the problems of flood victims. Similarly, the Democratic Employees Federation will also send all possible assistance to the flood affected people.
Garhshankar, September 1 – In view of the extensive damage caused by floods in Punjab, the state committee of Democratic Employees Federation has decided that on September 2, memorandums will be sent to Punjab and the Central Government through Deputy Commissioners in all districts to resolve the problems of flood victims. Similarly, the Democratic Employees Federation will also send all possible assistance to the flood affected people.
Issuing a statement to the press, the state president of the federation, Jarmanjit Singh, general secretary Hardeep Todarpur and finance secretary Harinder Dosanjh said that while the Punjab government has failed to prevent the devastation caused by the floods and provide relief to the affected people, the central government has also not given any kind of financial package to Punjab to deal with this situation.
He said that the devastation caused by the floods cannot be called a natural disaster only because on the one hand, Punjab is struggling with a serious problem of groundwater, on the other hand, the governments could not build the necessary infrastructure to store excess water during the rainy days and both the governments are not paying any attention to making the necessary arrangements to prevent unexpected floods.
The leaders said that on September 2, demand letters will be sent to the Punjab and Central Government through the Deputy Commissioners in all the districts to resolve the problems of the flood-affected people.
The leaders of the federation Vikram Dev Singh, Mahinder Kaurwali, Mukesh Kumar, Mehma Singh Dhanaula, Lakhwinder Kaur Faridkot, Mandeep Kaur Bilga, Rachpal Singh Jodhanagari, Atinderpal Ghagga, Ashwini Awasthi, Manjit Singh Dasuha, Sukhdev Dancewal and Sukhwinder Lil also appealed to the employees of Punjab and other people to come forward to help the flood-affected people.
