Nawanshahr - On the third day of the state level boxing competitions being organized by the Punjab Government and the Sports Department of Punjab under 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2024, Season 3' at Lamrin Tech Skill University, Balachaur, exciting matches of various categories were held today.
Today, as the chief guest, Aam Aadmi Party Nawanshahr constituency in-charge Lalit Mohan Pathak, Registrar of Lamrin Tech Skill University, Balachaur Dr. Rajiv Mahajan and Assistant Director Sports Ram Mayer were present.
On this occasion, the chief guests blessed the players and motivated them to participate more and more in sports and stay away from addiction. He said that 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan' organized by the Punjab Government and Sports Department under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann is a commendable initiative to create a sports culture in the state.
District Sports Officer Vandana Chauhan said that in these state level boxing competitions which will run till 24th November, there will be competitions in the age groups of boys and girls under 14, 17, 21, 21-30 and 31-40. She said that today on the third day of the tournament, Neetu of SAS Nagar district secured first place in the girls age group 21 weight 45-48 kg.
Similarly, Sahin of Malerkotla district secured first place in the 51-54 kg weight category. Apart from this, Areba of Malerkotla district secured first place in the 54-57 kg weight category. Visakha of Pathankot district secured first place in the weight category 57-60 kg. Medals were awarded to the winning players. On this occasion Market Committee Nawashahr chairman Gagan Agnihotri, Muhammad Habib convener, Hardeep Singh K-convener, Harpreet Singh boxing coach, Malkit Singh athletics catch, Miss Lovepreet Kaur athletics coach, Jaswinder Singh football coach and all the staff besides a large number of players were present.
