Today, in collaboration with the local ashram of Brahma Kumaris, a drama against drug abuse was enacted on the stage to create awareness against drug abuse and Brahma Kumaris gave the message of eliminating social evils through spirituality. Later, an awareness rally was taken out in the fair and the message of staying away from drug abuse and social evils was also given.
Being Sunday, more people than usual were seen in the fair today and people did a good job of shopping for crafts and handicrafts in the fair. Wood carving, fine enameling and carved stone idols and articles, embroidered phulkari and shoes, pickles and Kahwa with the distinctive taste of Kashmir have created a stir in the fair.
Mahesh Kumar of Jodhpur, who has been making Rajasthani shoes for five generations, has become the first choice of the people of Tricity. Mahesh Kumar's grandfather Mishri Lal and father Fahu Lal are residents of Jodhpur's Jatraan village and make handmade shoes from goat and camel skin. Along with Mahesh Kumar, his uncle Mangi Lal also works in the shoe business. He said that Rajasthani Desi Juttis, Khussa and Nagara style shoes for women, children and men are made, which were once worn by the Maharaja family of Jodhpur. Mahesh Kumar's three feet long finely embroidered shoes were also selected for the national award.
