Mohali- The birth anniversary of Lord Sri Valmiki was celebrated with great fanfare by the Valmik Youth Service Club in village Sohana Sector 78 under Mohali District. On this occasion, the youth of the committee and all the dignitaries of Nagar Sohana enjoyed the program and prayed to God that all the residents of Deep Singh Nagar Sohana should always be in prosperity.
On this occasion, District Congress Party Mohali President Amarjit Singh Gill attended and bowed before Lord Maharishi and took blessings. Meanwhile, he said in his address that Valmiki Jayanti is being celebrated on 17 October 2024. Maharishi Valmiki's birthday is also celebrated as Pragati Diwas. Maharishi Valmiki is not only the author of the epic Ramayana but is also called the original poet of the Sanskrit language. It is believed that earlier Valmiki was a dacoit, his name was Ratnakara. Then he changed his mind after hearing Narada Muni. After which he left immoral activities and chose the path of God. After this he became famous as Maharishi Valmiki.
On this occasion, club president Lakhwinder Singh, councilor of Sohana Sucha Singh, Sorav Sharma Lambardar, Gurpreet Singh Sohana, Shingara Sohana, Sandeep Singh Sohana, Soni Sohana and other youth leaders and elders of the village were present.
