
Students were made aware under the Sustainability Leaders Program
Hoshiarpur - On 9th and 10th October, Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur organized 'Sustainability Leaders Program' under Swachh Bharat Mission. Under the guidelines of Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Amandeep Kaur, the sanitation team of the Municipal Corporation conducted a cleaning campaign in different schools of the city.
Hoshiarpur - On 9th and 10th October, Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur organized 'Sustainability Leaders Program' under Swachh Bharat Mission. Under the guidelines of Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Amandeep Kaur, the sanitation team of the Municipal Corporation conducted a cleaning campaign in different schools of the city.
The objective of this program was to sensitize the students about solid waste management and motivate them to separate wet and dry waste. Under the programme, Community Facilitators of Municipal Corporation Jyoti Kalia, Jaswinder Kaur and Meena Kumari visited various schools and conducted seminars on Solid Waste Management. In these seminars, the students were given information about proper waste management and they were given a tour of the MRF center located at the Fire Brigade. Here the children were explained in detail about the process of composting from wet waste and other methods of waste management.
Along with this, the students were made aware about the importance of keeping their surrounding area clean. The Municipal Corporation Commissioner appealed to the residents of the city to segregate wet and dry waste in their homes and stop using single-use plastic to make the city clean and environment-friendly. Apart from this, school children were also appealed to completely stop the use of single use plastic. The concerned officers and employees of the Municipal Corporation were also present in this program.
