Nawanshahr - Indian Journalists Union and Punjab Ad Chandigarh Journalists Union have met the Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu and demanded to restore the concession of railway travel to journalists. The delegation under the leadership of Indian Journalists Union Secretary General Balwinder Jammu said on Wednesday while talking to Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu at Chandigarh. That for a long time, the Indian government, especially the Ministry of Railways, had given the facility of half a ticket to journalists while traveling in the country.
 But during the time of Corona (Covid), the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stopped this facility given to journalists. Union leader Balwinder Singh Jammu and Punjab and Chandigarh Journalist Union Executive President Jai Singh Chhibbar said that journalists are working as a bridge between the government and the people for the restoration of democracy. Journalists have to go to different parts of the country as a profession of journalism Due to which the Government of India had given concessions to journalists in railway travel, but during the Corona period, the Government of India has abolished the concessions given to travel in railways and the Working Journalists Act.
Due to the closure of these two facilities, the journalist community is protesting. Bittu assured the delegation that he would take the matter seriously and make all possible efforts to restore the closed facility.
