October 1, 2024:- In the run-up to holding the maiden SARAS Mela in the district from October 18 to 27, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain took a review meeting to discuss the preparations. Holding a meeting with the Nodal Officers of the 19 Committees constituted to spearhead the 11-day-long gala event, this evening at the District Administrative complex, she said that the event will be a befitted platform for the artisans and artists to promote their goods and art from across the various states. Over 300 stalls and exhibitions that would be displayed in this Mela, would showcase the vibrant culture and handicrafts, she added. To make this event memorable and pompous which is being organised at Mela Ground Sector 88, the duties and responsibilities allotted to all the nodal officers who head the various organising committees should be performed diligently to make the SARAS Mela a grand success, asserted Deputy Commissioner in the meeting. She said that apart from the display of artistic talent and artisan qualities of the people across the Nation, the singers and comedians will also mesmerise the audience daily. The SARAS Mela will also provide opportunities for budding artists to showcase their talents in front of the audience present there. Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that the committees formed for the event include Executive Committee led by ADC (G), Invitation and Flex Committee led by CMFO, Law and Order by SDM Mohali, Medical Assistance by SDM Mohali, ITCell/Help Desk led by SDM Mohali, Drinking water, fire brigade and sanitary services led by Joint Commissioner MC Mohali, Accommodation Arrangements led by SDM Mohali, Food Committee led by SDM Kharar, Sponsorships Committee led by GM DIC, Purchase Committee led by Chief Engineer MC Mohali, Entertainment Committee led by SDM Derabassi, Swings, Stalls safety and inspection committee led by SDM Derabassi, Transport Committee led by SDM Kharar, Site Selection, Planning and Development Committee led by SDM Mohali, The Reception Committee led by Deputy CEO Zila Parishad, the Decoration Committee led by SDm Derabassi, the Accounts and Records Committee is led by DDPO, the Publicity Committee led by SDM Derabassi and the Ticket Committee led by SDM Derabassi. These committees will work under the supervision of ADCs and Commissioner MC Mohali, said the Deputy Commissioner. The meeting was attended by the ADC Viraj S Tidke, Damanjit Singh Mann, Sonam Chaudhary, SDM Damandeep Kaur, Amit Gupta Derabassi, Gurmandar Singh Kharar, Joint Commissioner MC Deepankar Garg, Assistant Commissioner (G) Dr Ankita Kansal, Chief Engineer MC Mohali Naresh Batta, DDPO Baljinder Singh Grewal and XEN Panchayati Raj Maheshwar and other nodal officers.
