Nawanshahr, September 23 - On a nationwide invitation given by the trade unions, the Indian Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU) District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar today burnt copies of three new criminal laws and four labour codes at the local Ambedkar Chowk to express its opposition to these laws.
Expressing views on the occasion, IFTU Punjab Deputy Secretary Avtar Singh Tari and Press Secretary Jasbir Deep said that in the name of abolishing the colonial legal system, three new criminal laws have been brought along with the police state. In fact, these are even more deadly than the colonial laws. The Modi government is throttling the freedom of expression of citizens by imposing black laws.
He said that these laws are meant to snatch away the democratic rights achieved through struggles. This law is also a violation of international agreements signed by the Indian rulers. Like the three agricultural laws, the recent fascist attacks of the government can also be stopped only by the people's power. He said that the working class should strongly oppose these fascist laws.
IFTU District President Gurdayal Rakkad and Rehri Workers Union President Hare Ram said that the four labor codes ban workers from forming their own organizations and holding rallies, rallies and strikes for their legitimate demands, thereby crushing their democratic rights. The Modi government has brought these labor codes to protect the interests of local and foreign corporates and to steal the labor of the country's workers. Workers will have to fight fiercely to repeal them. These codes are weapons to prevent the working class from organizing and fighting.
