Red Cross SAS Nagar holds Blood Donation Camp on the death anniversary of Col Manpreet Singh Kirti Chakra

Bharonjian (SAS Nagar), September 13, 2024:- Taking a unique initiative to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Col Manpreet Singh, on his death anniversary, the District Red Cross Society, SAS Nagar today conducted a blood donation camp at his ancestral village Bharonjia near New Chandigarh.

      Divulging the details, the Secretary District Red Cross Society, SAS Nagar, Harbans Singh said that Deputy Commissioner-cum-President of the District Red Cross Society, Aashika Jain along with SDM Gurmander Singh also visited the camp and disbursed the certificates to the blood donors.
      It is worthwhile to mention that Shaheed Col Manpreet Singh was killed in action while leading from the front in an anti-terror operation in Jammu Kashmir’s Anantnag last September and awarded the Kirti Chakra posthumously, the second-highest peacetime gallantry award.
     Deputy Commissioner while visiting the blood donation camp said that the exemplary courage shown by Col Manpreet Singh would ever be remembered and the blood donation camp is dedicated to the hero of the Nation on his first death anniversary.
      Secretary Harbans Singh added that the camp was assisted by the Vishwas Foundation while the blood transfusion teams from Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Chandigarh and the Department of Transfusion Medicine from Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Charitable Eye Hospital Trust, Sohana collected the 73 units blood during the camp.
