Chandigarh- Shiromani Akali Dal's well-wisher leaders, former minister Surjit Singh Rakhra and Parminder Singh Dhindsa have expressed deep concern over the shameful defeat of Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Parupkar Singh Ghumman in the by-election of Ludhiana West. In their statement issued to the media, both the leaders said that despite the significant number of Sikh voters in the constituency, the shameful defeat of the candidate of the representative Jamaat of the Panth, 'which is now in the form of a faction' and the forfeiture of the deposit makes it clear that the Sikh voters are very angry.

In the statement issued, the leaders said that the Sangat has completely rejected the leadership of Sukhbir Singh Badal, first as the party president and now as the head of a faction. The Sikh Sangat and Punjabis will never tolerate any representative of the Shiromani Akali Dal running away from Sri Akal Takht Sahib, so without any delay, the representative Jamaat (Shiromani Akali Dal) of the Panth should be handed over to the Panth.
In a statement issued to the media, Sardar Surjit Singh Rakhra said that, although Sukhbir Badal should have retired from active politics after the report of the Jhundha Committee containing recommendations, but his stubbornness and politics of one man show based on false political illusions has come to an end due to this shameful defeat. Sardar Rakhra said that Sukhbir Badal should respect the decision of the people.
No person can ever succeed with stubbornness and obstinacy. Advising Sukhbir Singh Badal, he said that if Sukhbir Singh Badal wants to maintain himself in the political arena, he must go to Sri Akal Takht Sahib and apologize for his mistake of disobeying the Hukamnama Sahib issued on 2 December.

Sardar Parminder Singh Dhindsa said that the continuous series of 'defeat after defeat' and that too in the form of forfeiture of deposit makes it clear that Sukhbir Badal had already lost his leadership as the President of Shiromani Akali Dal and now has got the proof of having lost the moral right to lead politically even as the head of a faction.
Sardar Dhindsa said that in personal politics, respecting the decision of the people is the first quality of leadership, but repeatedly disrespecting the decision of the people is political stupidity. Sardar Dhindsa appealed to the well-wishing leaders and workers of Akali ideology sitting in Sukhbir faction that they should be a part of the ongoing recruitment drive by dedicating themselves completely to Sri Akal Takht Sahib Ji and contribute in strengthening the Panthic Party under the leadership of the new leadership.
