Patiala, August 30 - District Olympic Association Patiala and Society for Sports Persons Welfare organized a seminar on the occasion of National Sports Day. This seminar was presided over by General Secretary of District Olympic Association Patiala Jagdeep Singh Kahlon. Addressing the children on this occasion, Jagdeep Singh Kahlon said that the whole of India celebrates August 29 as National Sports Day.
The day is dedicated to the birth anniversary of hockey wizard Olympian Major Dhyan Chand. He said that this sports day is celebrated so that young children get interested in sports and the children can be inspired to follow the path shown by Major Dhyan Chand and win medals at Olympics, Asian Games and international level. Major Dhyan Chand raised India's flag many times at the international level, including Olympic medals, and today the whole world remembers him. He told the children that sports are very important to stay physically and mentally healthy. Only a good player can create a good society. They also inspired the young children to stay away from evil like drugs.
 He said that Deputy Commissioner Patiala Shaukat Ahmed Pare President District Olympic Association is taking various levels of efforts to encourage sportsmen. He said that in the coming days District Olympic Association Patiala is conducting a competition for junior, sub junior children, the main purpose of which will be to connect the youth with the sports fields. On this occasion Charanjit Singh Bhullar Executive Committee Member District Olympic Association Patiala, Bakhshish Singh Vice President District Olympic Association Patiala, all the team of District Olympic Association and team members of District Education Department, parents of children and sports lovers were present.
