
Sports Minister visits villages in view of rising water level in Yamuna.
Chandigarh, September 2 - In view of the high water level in the Yamuna river, Haryana Sports Minister Mr. Gaurav Gautam today visited more than half a dozen villages of Palwal and assured the villagers that they should not go home under any circumstances and take precautions. The government stands with the people.

Sports Minister Mr. Gaurav Gautam, accompanied by the district administration team, started his tour of the Khadar area from Bagpur village, while it ended in Thanthari village. During this, he visited the villages likely to be flooded and interacted with the villagers and took stock of the situation. While inspecting the embankment in Rajpur-Dostpur village, he gave directions to the officials. On this occasion, he assured the villagers of various villages that all possible help would be provided to them.
During the visit, he held a meeting with the senior officials of the district administration and department officials in Bagpur village on his return, along with the sarpanches of various villages and respectable people. He directed the officials to ensure complete power and water supply in the concerned villages. The Irrigation Department should make arrangements in advance to deal with the waterlogging situation. Diesel and electric pump sets should be installed as per the requirement. The Animal Husbandry Department should prepare for the care of the animals. Along with this, the Health Department should organize camps and arrange treatment and medicines for the general public.
The Sports Minister said that there is a possibility of water rising in the Yamuna. In such a situation, people should take all kinds of precautions. The administration is doing a good job and all kinds of arrangements are being ensured. Palwal has received this much rain after about 35 years. He said that all the concerned officials have been instructed to provide all possible help to the villagers in the event of waterlogging. He also said that an e-Shatipurti portal has been launched, on which farmers can file their crop damage reports.
During this, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar Vashishtha and other officials were present.
