Chandigarh, August 3:- Opposition leader Pratap Singh Bajwa has criticized Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for not calling a cabinet meeting for the last five months.
He said that the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government often makes big claims of prioritizing the development and betterment of Punjab. However, its hypocrisy and incompetence can be gauged from the fact that it has not held a cabinet meeting since March 9. Bajwa said that as per tradition, the Cabinet meeting should be held every week so that possible complications can be resolved immediately.
Senior Congress leader Bajwa said that the government can make an excuse that the election code was implemented across the country on March 16. But this excuse will be nothing more than a futile effort. In fact, the Election Code does not prevent state governments from holding cabinet meetings. Apart from this, the election process was completed on June 5 after the results were announced on June 4.
He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann can spare time to lead the election campaign for the Haryana Assembly elections. Bajwa said that he had shown interest in watching the hockey match at the Olympics in Paris but still he has no interest in holding the cabinet meeting.
Bajwa said that it has been proved on several occasions that the first priority of Punjab Chief Minister is to enjoy VIP culture and party expansion. Punjab and Punjabis are low on their agenda.
