Garhshankar 15 March- Physical Education Department of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College Mahilpur here jointly organised annual athletic meet in collaboration with Sant Baba Hari Singh Memorial Khalsa College of Education, in which students of B.Ed. College and Degree College participated in various sports competitions with great enthusiasm.
Chief guest during the athletic meet was Inderjit Singh Waria, Chairman of Ek Noor Samaj Seva Sanstha Pathlawa, while the sports function was presided over by President of Sikh Educational Council Sant Sadhu Singh Kaharpur, NRI Kundan Singh Sajjan, Virinder Sharma, Wing Commander Hardev Singh Dhillon, Arjun Awardee Athlete Madhuri A Singh, Sewak Singh Bains, Gurjit Singh Pabla, Daljit Singh Bains, Surinderpal Sharma, Amandeep Singh Bains, Engineer Chandra Shekhar Menon, Gurdayal Singh Kaharpur.
Chief guest Inderjit Singh Waria took salute of various march pasts of the players. The march past was led by Sarabjit Singh, a student of the college appointed as referee in the World Cup of Kho-Kho. Chief Guest Inderjit Singh Waria donated Rs. 51 thousand to the college and NRI Kundan Singh Sajjan donated Rs. 25 thousand to the college. College Principal Dr. Parwinder Singh welcomed the guests and informed about the sports achievements of the college.
On this occasion, the students of Degree College and B.Ed. College participated in various games and received great appreciation from the audience. On the basis of these competitions, Suhail Ahmed and Rohit Pal were declared the best athletes in the boys category, while Brahmjot Kaur and Baby Bassi won the title of best athletes in the girls category.
On this occasion, in the tug of war competition organized by the college, the students of BA Part III defeated the non-teaching staff of Khalsa College Mahilpur by 2-0. Head of Physical Education Department Dr. Rajkumar conducted the proceedings of the stage and also presented the vote of thanks. On the occasion of the athletic meet, Principal of B.Ed. College Dr. Rohtansh, Dr. Jatinder Kumar, Prof. Iqbal Singh, Prof. Priya, Prof. Charanjit Kumar, Prof. Manpreet Sethi, Prof. Sheetal, Football Coach Harinder Singh, Prof. Rishabh etc. along with the entire staff of both the colleges and a large number of students were present.
