Paigam-e-Jagat, Garhshankar, 18 June 2025 – Bahujan Samaj Party today held a protest march in Garhshankar which started after paying obeisance at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib. After the protest, a memorandum was sent to the Honorable Governor of Punjab through the Sub-Divisional Officer. Through the protest march, BSP expressed its displeasure against the desecration of the statue of Baba Sahib Dr. Ambedkar in Nurpur Jattan, open liquor vends at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib and the drug mafia running in Punjab.
In the memorandum, the BSP clearly said that this is not just an incident in one village, but the statues of Baba Sahib have also been desecrated in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Batala, Jagraon and Hoshiarpur. No justice has been done yet. The BSP also mentioned that it seems as if the Punjab government has neither constitutional concern nor respect for the religious sentiments of the Bahujan Samaj.
Liquor shops are also open in Sri Khuralgarh Sahib, a religious place associated with Sri Guru Ravidass Ji. These shops have not only violated religious sanctity but have also further promoted the unauthorized sale of drugs in the area. This drug, which is worsening the situation in the form of drug mafia, is a clear indication of the failure of the government.
Along with this, describing FIRs No. 161 and 163 registered under Garhshankar police station on October 16 and 17, 2024 as false and harassing, the BSP demanded their cancellation and justice to the victims.
The BSP gave the message through the Governor that if the culprits of sacrilege are not arrested immediately, the vendors at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib are not closed, the operations of the drug mafia are not stopped and the FIRs are not cancelled and justice is not given to the victims, then the BSP will launch a major struggle in Punjab under the "Save Punjab" movement.
