Baler and rake machines for making straw bales were dispatched by the Deputy Commissioner to start the work in different villages of the district.

 Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar said that the whole team of Kulwinder Singh village Sohana will make bales of straw with about 6 balers and rake machines without any cost from the farmers. He further informed that 20 baler and rake machines were available in the district by the year 2023-24 and this year 17 more machines have been applied for by various farmers/farmers groups/cooperative societies through online portal regarding machinery developed by the government.
 He said that considering the need of these machines in the district, the district administration has so far provided three baler and rake machines under the CER fund to the progressive farmers preparing straw bales. He also informed that in view of the demand for the machines being used for the maintenance of stubble, the government had extended the time till 19.09.2024 to apply for more machines. As a result of which 317 applications have been received, through which 373 machines have been demanded by various farmers. He informed that the district has sufficient funds for the purchase of five balers and five machines by the farmer groups/cooperative societies and all the groups/cooperative societies applying using these funds are being approved by the Department of Agriculture.
 On this occasion Dr. Gurdayal Kumar Agricultural Development Officer, Mr. Lakhwinder Singh, Junior Technician, Mr. Kamaldeep Singh and Mr. Manjit Singh ATM of SAS Nagar Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare were present.
