Zirakpur, July 14- Kuljit Singh Randhawa, MLA of Derabassi Assembly constituency, while speaking in the assembly today, expressed concern towards the people born in the rainy season in the Zirakpur area. He expressed concern over the flood-like situation. Expressing affection towards his area, MLA Randhawa said that whenever there is continuous rain during the rainy season, a flood situation arises in Zirakpur. The water level of rivers and drains increases due to excessive water coming from Sukhna Lake, Panchkula and mountains. Due to which there is an atmosphere of fear among the city dwellers.
He said that Zirakpur, coming from Himachal, is the first city in Punjab where it rains. It gets hit by water. Due to the flood two years ago, the main roads and houses of the colonies were flooded with about 3-4 feet of water. Due to this, people have suffered losses of crores of rupees. Randhawa said that of course, heavy rain is a natural disaster, but it is his primary duty to provide a fear-free environment to the city dwellers trapped in this disaster.
Addressing the minister of the concerned department, he said that of course government stone blocks were also brought to the area in the past, but this time again they have come from Chandigarh, Sukhna, Panchkula, Himachal Pradesh. Due to heavy rain water, the area of Zirakpur is on the verge of drowning. Therefore, more attention is needed on this issue and the concerned department assures to solve this problem soon.
