Chandigarh, July 4:- Applications have been invited for nominations/recommendations for the Padma Awards to be announced on Republic Day 2027. Applications for these awards can be applied online on the National Awards Portal (https://awards.gov.in/) till July 31. These awards include Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards.
Giving information about this, an official spokesperson said that the persons making the nominations should submit an explanatory letter of appreciation of maximum 800 words, in which the special and other achievements/services of the recommended person in the relevant field/subject are clearly described.
He said that the Padma Awards, i.e. Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, are among the highest civilian awards of the country. These awards, instituted in the year 1954, are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day. These awards are given to recognize outstanding work for distinguished and extraordinary achievements/services in all fields/subjects such as art, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public works, civic services, trade and industry. All persons without distinction of caste, profession, rank or sex are eligible for these awards. Government employees working in public sector institutions, except doctors and scientists, are not eligible for Padma awards.
