Writers community to join nationwide strike on February 12

Chandigarh:- Gurjit Billa -Central Punjabi Writers' Association (Regd) has called on all writers, scholars and thinkers to make the nationwide strike on February 12 a success. Sabha President Darshan Buttar, General Secretary Sushil Dosanjh, Senior Vice President Makhan Singh Kuhar and Office Secretary Deep Devinder Singh said in a joint press statement issued here that this strike is against the policies of the Central Government which are causing serious damage to the country's economy, farmers, working class and welfare schemes.
They said that the main purpose of this strike is to strongly oppose the harmful policies of the Central Government regarding privatization, raise a strong voice against the harmful changes being made in the form of Electricity Bill 2025, Seed Bill 2025 and NREGA scheme. Along with this, the demand for repealing the four labor codes and replacing them with pro-labor laws is also among the central issues of the strike.
In the press statement, the leaders also expressed serious concern over the unfair trade agreement being signed between India and the US. They said that this agreement could prove fatal for the country's economy and would especially push the lower class farmers, small producers and indigenous industries towards destruction. Therefore, there was a demand for immediate cancellation of this agreement.
The leaders of the assembly said that a one-day nationwide strike is being organized on February 12 by public organizations, farmers, workers, employees and writers to draw the attention of the government to all the above issues. It is a social responsibility to make this strike successful.
Finally, the Central Punjabi Writers' Association (Regd) strongly appealed to all writers, scholars and thinkers to actively participate in this strike and raise their voice in favor of democracy, social justice and public interest policies.
