World Paper Day Celebrated with Tree Plantation

Patiala: On the occasion of World Paper Day, the Gyan Jyoti Education Society (Regd.), Patiala, celebrated the day by planting saplings in Nehru Park. This initiative was part of the "Clean Patiala, Green Patiala" campaign and the "Every Person Should Plant Two Trees" drive, coinciding with the birthdays of Subhash Bagga and Mohan Lal Khanna. Patiala Mayor Kundan Gogia congratulated Bagga and Khanna on the occasion and emphasized the need to plant as many trees as possible.
Under the "Every Person Should Plant Two Trees" campaign—spearheaded by Upkar Singh for two decades—drives to clean Nehru Park and surrounding areas, as well as campaigns against plastic use, are being conducted. Approximately one lakh saplings have been planted across the city, villages, and schools to protect the environment, and Singh's team has remained dedicated to serving society even during floods. Since June 1st, his team has also been assisting the Municipal Corporation in the "Clean Patiala, Green Patiala" campaign.
Mayor Gogia appealed to the residents of Patiala, stating that the city belongs to them and it is their responsibility to care for it; he urged them to support the Gyan Jyoti Education Society. Gogia remarked, "I am a servant of the people; my doors are always open for any task." Finally, Upkar Singh extended his congratulations to both families.
