World Cancer Day Cancer Survivors Doctors Participate in Walkathon

Mohali: On the occasion of World Cancer Day, cancer survivors, doctors, caregivers, and volunteers participated in a walkathon at Livasa Hospital, Mohali, on Wednesday. Members of the Chandigarh Group of Colleges Landran, Rotary Club, Inner Wheel Club, Lions Club, Mohali Senior Citizens Association, and Chandigarh Senior Citizens Association also joined the walkathon in solidarity to support cancer awareness.
This initiative by Livasa aimed to spread awareness about the importance of early detection, timely treatment, and emotional support in the fight against cancer.
On this occasion, a health session and awareness skit were organized, and cancer survivors shared their journeys of overcoming cancer.
Dr. Jatin Sareen, Director of Medical Oncology, said, "Early detection of cancer is crucial. Awareness truly saves lives."
Dr. Meenakshi Mittal, Director of Radiation Oncology, shared, "Simple screenings and timely consultations can make a significant difference. Our objective was to raise awareness among people."
Dr. Vijay Bansal, Director of Surgical Oncology, emphasized the importance of regular check-ups and lifestyle changes. He said, "Early detection is paramount in the fight against cancer. Regular check-ups, a healthy diet, and avoiding tobacco can significantly reduce the risk of various types of cancer."
