Workshop on MSMEs Organized at PTU Hoshiarpur
Hoshiarpur: Under the dynamic leadership of the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Sushil Mittal, and the guidance of Director Prof. Ashish Arora and Campus Coordinator Dr. S.K. Mahla, a successful workshop on the subject of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) was organized on March 19, 2026, at the I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (PTU) Hoshiarpur Campus by the Central Institute of Hand Tools (CIHT), Jalandhar.
The objective of this workshop was to sensitize students, budding entrepreneurs, and stakeholders associated with local industries regarding the opportunities, challenges, and government support available within the MSME sector. Experts from CIHT highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship development, modern manufacturing techniques, and skill development in empowering small-scale industries.
During the workshop, participants were apprised of various schemes launched by the Government of India to promote MSMEs—such as those offering financial assistance, technological upgradation, and market linkages. The speakers emphasized that MSMEs play a pivotal role in driving the nation's economic progress, generating employment, and fostering innovation.
During the interactive sessions, participants engaged directly with the experts to gain insights into the practical aspects of launching their own ventures and successfully managing a business. Students demonstrated a keen interest in adopting entrepreneurship as a career option, reflecting the growing trend towards self-employment.
Faculty members of the PTU Hoshiarpur Campus—Dr. Brijesh Bakaria, Dr. Amit Handa, Dr. Amit Bansal, Dr. Kulwinder Parmar, Ms. Mansi, and Ms. Ravneet—lauded this initiative, stating that such workshops serve to bridge the gap between academic education and the requirements of the industry. They expressed their hope to organize similar programs in collaboration with CIHT in the future.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks, and the participants were encouraged to utilize the knowledge acquired to contribute towards the growth and development of the MSME sector.
