Woman doctor commits suicide alleging rape by police personnel

Pune- A woman doctor of a government hospital in Maharashtra's Satara district allegedly committed suicide and accused two police personnel of raping and mentally harassing her in her note.
An official said that the victim's body was found hanging in a hotel room in Phaltan late on Thursday night, after which the police were informed. An official said that the deceased was a resident of Beed district and worked in a government hospital in Phaltan tehsil.
In the suicide note written on her palm, the victim alleged that she was raped and mentally harassed by two Satara police personnel for the last five months. She wrote that Sub-Inspector Gopal Badane raped and sexually abused her several times. Another employee, Prashant Banker, mentally harassed her.
"We have registered a case and the body has been sent for postmortem. We are also investigating the allegations mentioned in the suicide note written on the victim's hand," a Satara police official said.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Women's Commission chief Rupali Chakankar said, "We have taken cognizance of the matter and directed Satara police to take strict action against the culprits. Teams have been deployed to search for the culprits. Those involved in this unfortunate incident will not be spared."
