Karnal, March 7: The Sanatan Dharma Shiva Temple in Karnal, Haryana, is a special attraction for devotees due to its unique structure and religious fervor. Standing on a 17-foot base, this approximately 115-foot-tall temple is considered one of its kind in North India. Located near the historic Manji Sahib Gurudwara, this temple also exemplifies religious harmony and faith.
Ramesh Jindal, President of the Sanatan Dharma Shiva Temple Management Committee, explained that the temple was built in 1976. Many obstacles were encountered during construction, but with the faith and support of devotees, the temple was completed. Today, the temple has become a center of deep faith.
The temple houses a magnificent statue of Lord Mahakal, with a third eye on its forehead. It is believed that any devotee who lights a lamp here for 40 consecutive days will have their wishes fulfilled. The temple also maintains an eternal flame that burns continuously.
Gaurav Garg explained that many prominent political figures are also connected to this temple. Former Member of Parliament Dr. Arvind Sharma installed a diamond third eye on the idol of Lord Mahakal from his personal funds. Former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also has faith in this temple and received blessings for victory from it.
According to the temple priest, Laxman Pandey, the temple's 15 floors house the shrines of various deities. The highest floors are the shrines of Maa Sherawali and Lord Shri Ram. Devotees from far and wide come here to witness the temple's grandeur and unique structure. Standing on a 17-foot base, this 115-foot-tall temple has become an important symbol of Karnal's religious and cultural identity.
