SBS Nagar- The “War on Drugs Campaign” launched by the Punjab Government on March 1, 2025, has yielded very positive results in SBS Nagar district. Under this campaign, the district police has taken strong action to control drugs.
1001 FIRs registered, 1243 drug peddlers arrested SP Investigation Sarabjit Singh Bahia said that 1001 FIRs have been registered by the SBS Nagar police under this campaign and 1243 drug peddlers have been arrested.
The police have recovered 3.896 kg heroin, 36.710 kg opium, 234.280 kg poppy husk, 168 narcotic injections, 12,242 capsules and pills, 7 grams of charas, 5.261 kg of ganja and Rs 5,10,200 in drug money from them.

****Success achieved through social contribution****
SP Bahia said that along with the police, villages, localities and important people have also contributed a lot in running this campaign in an orderly manner. He said that every section of the society needs to come forward to eradicate any evil.

***Government assistance for those who have given up drugs****
He said that the youth who have got caught up in drugs due to wrong association or any compulsion but now want to build their future, are sent to the drug de-addiction center. When the court and the police, based on the report of the center, accept that the person has given up drugs, he is connected with employment with the advice of his parents.

***Evil of extortion coming from abroad****
SP Bahia said that the main reason for the recent extortion incidents in Punjab is the youth who are sitting abroad and have never worked hard in their own country. On their instigation, some youth here take to the path of crimes. Most of the cases have their roots in foreign countries

****Be careful of cybercrime****
He warned that cyber thugs are such students who misuse technology. He appealed to the people to never receive a video call from an unknown person, as this is the biggest method of cybercrime. Accepting an unknown call gives an opportunity to the thugs to commit crimes. It is important for every citizen to be aware so that such crimes can be avoided.
