Vishav Punjabi Prachar Sabha Chandigarh Pays Tribute to Chann Guraya Wala
Chandigarh:- Today, a special meeting of the office bearers of the Vishav Punjabi Prachar Sabha Chandigarh was held at its Sector-41 office under the chairmanship of renowned litterateur and former Deputy Secretary of the Punjab Government, Mr. Raj Kumar Sahowalia. During the meeting, deep grief was expressed over the untimely demise of the prominent lyricist of the Punjabi mother tongue, Mr. Bhulla Ram, alias Chann Guraya Wala. All members observed a two-minute silence to pay a heartfelt tribute to this great personality.
While expressing sorrow and keeping his invaluable service to songwriting in mind, the President of the organization, Prin. Bahadur Singh Gosal, stated that the sudden death of Chann Guraya Wala is a major blow to Punjabi literature and especially to songwriting, causing a wave of shock among all Punjabi lovers. It is noteworthy that many of the songs written by him have become folk songs and are on the tips of people's tongues, such as "Asi pendu nahi dila de maade, ni Chandigarh rehan waliye," and "De de passport mera, ve main challi aan Vilayat nu"... etc.
Additionally, the Punjabi film "Balbiro Bhabi," produced by him reflecting Punjabi heritage, remained a special achievement of his life. Among those present on this occasion were Avtar Singh Mehatpuri, Balwinder Singh, Krishan Rahi, Piara Singh Rahi, Baljinder Shergill, Amarjit Singh Bathlana, and others.
