Virbhadra Chowk Neglected Santokhgarhs Identity Under Threat

Santokhgarh/Una (Rajveer Chopra): Once renowned across the state and the country, the Santokhgarh Municipal Council now appears to be losing its luster due to a lack of development and administrative neglect. Santokhgarh, formerly a hub for various government offices and administrative activities, has gradually lost key institutions, with many offices relocated elsewhere.
Locals state that while the Santokhgarh assembly constituency once commanded recognition across the state and nation, it is currently struggling to maintain its identity.
Virbhadra Chowk, located on the town's Nangal Road, also appears to be a victim of administrative oversight. Although the intersection was previously beautified to enhance the town's aesthetic appeal, the flex boards and tin sheets currently surrounding it have marred its appearance.
Residents emphasize that Virbhadra Chowk is a landmark integral to the town's identity; however, neither the Municipal Council nor the district administration appears to be paying serious attention to its upkeep. People have demanded the removal of unnecessary flex boards and other obstructions to restore the Chowk's beauty and ensure regular maintenance.
Townspeople believe that if sites linked to the town's historical and cultural identity are not preserved in time, Santokhgarh risks losing whatever identity it still retains.
Una SDM Abhishek Mittal stated that the matter had not previously come to his attention, adding that a report regarding the Virbhadra Chowk in Santokhgarh would be obtained soon.
