Vigilance Bureau catches drug inspector redhanded while taking bribe of Rs 100000

Chandigarh:- Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state has caught drug inspector Ramandeep Gupta posted at FDA Drug Wing, Sri Muktsar Sahib red-handed while taking bribe of Rs 1,00,000. Disclosing this here today, the official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the said accused has been arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by a person residing in Bathinda.
He said that the complainant is a director of Redinex Life Sciences Private Limited Company, Bathinda and his company has been manufacturing allopathic medicines since the year 2020. The accused drug inspector had sealed his company after the raid. In this regard, the complainant alleged that the accused Drug Inspector was demanding a bribe of Rs. 2 lakh per month from him for removing the seal from his company. Not intending to pay any kind of bribe, the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau Range, Bathinda.
After the initial investigation of his complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap during which the accused Drug Inspector was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 1,00,000 as the first installment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. In this regard, a case has been registered against the accused at the Vigilance Bureau police station, Bathinda under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation of the case is underway.
