Vice President inaugurates Advanced Instrumentation Facility and Tech Innovation Forum at PU
Chandigarh, 4 September:- Vice President of India and Chancellor of Panjab University Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan on Friday inaugurated Advanced Instrumentation Facility and Panjab University Tech Innovation Forum (PU-TIF) at Panjab University. On this occasion 'EPOCH 2026: Odyssey of PU Tech Innovation Forum' coffee table book was also released.
Vice President visited facilities of PU-TIF and took information about infrastructure available for researchers, innovators and startups. He also reviewed Scale-up Facility and Protein Purification Platform. He said that SAIF/CIL and PU-TIF are important parts of University's research and innovation ecosystem.
Addressing students, teachers and researchers Shri Radhakrishnan said that Panjab University has long contributed to nation building. He said that India is emerging as world class centre for quality education, research and innovation and University should also play important role in this journey.
He informed that in Advanced Instrumentation Facility five advanced equipments like Atomic Force Microscope, Raman Spectrometer, DNA Sequencer, Flow Cytometer and FTIR Spectrometer have been installed. These will strengthen research in Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Environmental Science and Genomics.
About PU-TIF he said that conversion of BioNEST into Section-8 non-profit company has created new institutional structure for research, entrepreneurship and technology development. He said that with joint efforts of academic institutions, industry, incubators and investors innovation can get further momentum.
Vice President called upon young researchers to develop inclusive and large-scale implementable innovations fulfilling real needs of society. He describing campus security as University's topmost priority informed about formation of committee for comprehensive security audit and review of infrastructure.
He appealed to students to stay away from drugs and contribute in building drug-free India. Also emphasized on encouraging studies of new subjects like semiconductors and robotics.
Punjab Governor and Administrator of UT Chandigarh Shri Gulab Chand Kataria said that Panjab University has full potential to become world class institution. Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh described SAIF/CIL and PU-TIF as important for multi-disciplinary research and startups.
Chandigarh MP Shri Manish Tiwari emphasized importance of state-of-the-art technology. PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Meenakshi Goel said that new facilities will further strengthen research and innovation. Vice President while mentioning PU's 35th position in NIRF and NAAC A++ grading called for joint efforts to include University among world's best institutions.
