Veterinary University organizes oneday workshop for veterinary officers

Ludhiana, June 28, 2026:- The Directorate of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, in collaboration with the Animal Husbandry Department, Punjab, organized a one-day workshop of Master Trainers on Goat, Sheep, Pig, Poultry for the veterinary officers of the state. A total of 43 veterinary officers representing different districts of Punjab participated in this program.
Dr. Jatinder Pal Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor emphasized that continuous capacity building of veterinary professionals is very important to ensure efficient animal health care services and sustainable livestock development. He emphasized that such practical, need-based training programs enable veterinary officers to develop their technical expertise, adopt emerging technologies and effectively address the challenges faced by the livestock sector.
Dr. Ravinder Singh Grewal, Director Extension Education said that such programmes bridge the gap between scientific advancements and field-level practices, which ultimately benefits the farming community.
Dr. Rajesh Gupta, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Punjab revealed that these Veterinary Officers will act as Master Trainers to train veterinarians in farms and farmers. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Head, Extension Education Department and Dr. Ravdeep Singh.
The workshop focused on practical and field-oriented aspects of animal husbandry practice including blood sampling techniques in poultry and pigs, surgical management of urinary obstruction, nutritional requirements of sheep, goats, pigs and poultry, farm economics and standard post-mortem procedures.
The participants highly appreciated the practical sessions, which improved their technical skills and preparedness to tackle farm challenges. He said that such need-based training programs ultimately benefit the livestock farmers and strengthen the state's animal health care infrastructure.
