Vajra Corps celebrates 76th Raising Day

Hoshiarpur:- The Vajra Corps of the Indian Army celebrated its 76th Raising Day on 01 March 2026, commemorating more than seven decades of distinguished service to the nation. Raised in 1950, it was the first Indian Army Corps to be raised.
Over the years, the Corps has played a significant role on the Western Front achieving distinction in the wars of 1965 and 1971, including the historic victories of Dograi, Barki and Khem Karan. The Corps has also demonstrated consistent operational excellence and steadfast commitment to national security, including the high level of all-round excellence and support displayed by the soldiers of Vajra Corps during Operation Sindoor and Operation Rahat and also the conduct of multi-faceted outreach activities connecting the Army with the civil administration, ex-servicemen, families and civil society of this important border state, Punjab.
Awarded 25 Battle Honours, 04 Honour Titles and 38 Theatre Honours, Vajra Corps proudly upholds its legacy as the ‘Defender of Punjab’ as it enters its 76th year of dedicated service to the nation.
