US Truck Accident Jashanpreet Family Denies Drug Allegations
Gurdaspur- The family of Punjabi truck driver Jashanpreet Singh (21), who was involved in a horrific road accident in the US state of California, has claimed that their son does not consume any kind of drugs. Along with this, the family has appealed to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Sri Akal Takht Sahib to intervene to get their son out of the legal crisis.
It is worth mentioning that this painful accident took place in Ontario, California where a truck hit eight vehicles and as a result three people died and four were injured.
Family Claim: Son is religious, away from drugs
Jashanpreet, originally from Puranshala town near Gurdaspur, has been arrested by the police on charges of "gross vehicular manslaughter, use of drugs while driving and causing bodily harm". Jashanpreet's father Ravinder Singh, who drives a school bus, and mother Jasvir Kaur claimed that their son was an Amritdhari Sikh and regularly participated in Nagar Kirtans.
Ravinder Singh also rejected the claims of the toxicology report, saying, "First of all, this drug issue should be resolved once and for all. It is causing us a lot of pain. At the same time, we express our condolences to the families of the victims."
Appeal to SGPC and Akal Takht
The family said that they had given Rs 40 lakh to a travel agent to send Jashanpreet abroad and had mortgaged their house to secure their son's future.
Mata Jasvir Kaur, getting emotional, said: "I appeal to Sri Akal Takht Sahib and SGPC to talk to the Indian Consulate General in California. Jashanpreet was an Amritdhari Sikh and we hope that the SGPC will come forward to help us in this hour of crisis. It is noteworthy that Jashanpreet crossed the southern border of the US in November 2022 and was released pending a deportation hearing.
