Two warehouses of a foam factory gutted in fire at Mandour Ambala
Ambala, June 1: A massive fire broke out at the Jindal Petrochemicals warehouse in Mandour, Ambala, on Monday morning at 9:00 AM. The fire spread so rapidly that high flames erupted from the warehouse, covering the entire area and the sky in thick, black smoke. The incident caused panic in the surrounding area, and the fire brigade and local police were informed immediately. Upon receiving the information, several fire tenders reached the spot and began efforts to control the blaze.
Reports suggest that the warehouse contained petroleum products, oil, and chemical supplies. Due to these flammable materials, the fire intensified quickly, engulfing the entire warehouse. The heat was so intense that firefighters faced difficulty reaching the core of the warehouse. As a precautionary measure, all employees working inside the warehouse were evacuated.
Giving information about the incident, Fire Officer Satish Kumar stated that they received a notification about the fire through Dial 112, after which four fire tenders immediately reached the site. Three additional vehicles were summoned from Ambala Cantt. Due to the lack of a nearby water source, all vehicles had to make multiple rounds to refill. DSP Jitesh stated that they received information regarding a fire at a foam factory. Local police and several fire department vehicles arrived at the scene. Fortunately, there was no loss of life. The assessment of the damage has not been done yet; it will be known only after the fire is completely extinguished, but two warehouses have been reduced to ashes.
The fire has been brought under control to a certain extent, and the administration is present at the spot to provide assistance. Goods worth lakhs of rupees have been completely destroyed. The exact cause of the fire is not yet clear, but at first glance, it is being attributed to a short circuit.
Energy Minister Anil Vij inspected the Mandour fire site Haryana's Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister Anil Vij visited the site of the fire at a factory in Mandour village, under the Ambala Cantt assembly constituency, this morning. He directed the administration to expedite relief efforts. He inquired about the incident from the owner of the affected factory and assured them of all possible assistance.
