Trial of mass rain to reduce air pollution in Delhi

New Delhi- A cloud-seeding trial was conducted in some parts of Delhi. This trial was conducted in Burari and Karol Bagh areas. According to officials, the aircraft flew from Kanpur to Delhi and released chemicals in the clouds while trying to make mass rain.
At present, the pollution level in the national capital and NCR is increasing day by day and this trial with the aim of making mass rain to deal with air pollution is part of the Delhi government's strategy to reduce the deteriorating air quality during the winter months. It is also worth mentioning that during cloud seeding, silver iodine particles are released in the clouds which rain within some time.
Delhi Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said while releasing a video, 'This trial lasted for half an hour. IIT-Kanpur had said that rain could fall within 15 minutes to four hours after the cloud-seeding trial.’
He said that the second trial would be conducted later today in outer Delhi. The minister said that 9-10 such trials have been planned in the next few days and if they are successful, the government will prepare a long-term plan.
