Training program held in Hoshiarpur under Yuva Aapda Mitra scheme
Hoshiarpur:- The special training program started on November 16 in Hoshiarpur district under ‘Yuva Aapda Mitra’ scheme has been going on with enthusiasm for four consecutive days. The training will continue till November 23, in which a special team from Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Administration is providing practical information on various important topics related to disaster management to the volunteers.
A total of 250 NSS volunteers are participating in this training organized at Food Craft Institute, Hoshiarpur. On the first day of the training, Course Director Colonel Dalbir Singh and Course Coordinator Ankur Sharma inaugurated the program. The volunteers were registered and provided basic information on different types of disasters, basic preparedness and community-level risk reduction methods.
On the second day, the trainers provided detailed training on crowd control, safe evacuation routes, disaster management and the importance of emergency kits. Trainers Shubham Verma and Ankur also provided training to the students on how to reach a safe place. On the third day, the volunteers were trained on earthquake safety and techniques to be adopted during an earthquake. Trainer Sachin demonstrated methods to find and rescue injured people trapped under the rubble.
Shubham Verma and Saloni taught the volunteers various techniques to safely extract injured people from the rubble. On the fourth day, the volunteers were trained on rope rescue techniques. Trainer Sachin Sharma taught them how to tie different knots, climb and descend from high places and trainers Preeti Devi Shanu and Shaina Kaur provided detailed information on rescue measures during heat and cold waves.
Course Coordinator Ankur Sharma also gave a practical demonstration on how to give CPR. The training continued successfully with the active participation of the instructors Shiva Murthy, Preeti, Shaina, Ayush, Shubham and Aman from the Maxipa team. The volunteers participated enthusiastically in all the sessions and did the practical exercises with great interest.
