Traffic Police Mohali organized a seminar under the National Road Safety Campaign
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 21:- Under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police District SAS Nagar Mr. Harmandeep Singh Hans IPS and Superintendent of Police Traffic District SAS Nagar, Mr. Navneet Singh Mahal PPSG, the National Road Safety Campaign (2026) Zero Death System Plan is being celebrated by the Traffic Police of District SAS Nagar like every year from 01.01.2026 to 31.01.2026.
In the series of which, today on 21.01.2026, S. Karnail Singh PPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic, District SAS Nagar reached Sutlej World School Mubarikpur (Dera Bassi) and organized a seminar with the students, teachers and other staff of the school. On this occasion, Principal of Sutlej World School Mubarikpur Dr. Ruby Sharma and other staff of the school and Traffic Incharge Mubarikpur ASI Harkesh Singh were present.
During this seminar, Sardar Karnail Singh, DSP Traffic Mohali appealed that traffic rules should not be violated, as this causes loss of life and property to the general public. Along with this, the students were made aware about the ill effects of drugs and the students were also motivated to play sports.
The students were also told that under Section 199A of the Motor Vehicle Act, if a child below the age of 18 drives a vehicle, then his parents can be imprisoned for 3 (three) years, a fine of up to Rs. 25 thousand and the person who gives the vehicle to a child below the age of 18 can also be imprisoned for 3 years or a fine of up to Rs. 10 thousand.
If a person is found driving a vehicle after drinking alcohol, then action will be taken against that vehicle driver under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act. Under which a fine of Rs. 10,000/- and a punishment of up to 6 months can be imposed. If you modify the silencer of your vehicle and use it, then there will be a fine of Rs. 5,000/- under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Along with this, the vehicle drivers were made aware of the Scheme for Grant of Award to the Good Samaritan run by the government and it was told that if there is a road side accident, you can immediately call the police helpline number 112 and inform so that the Road Safety Force personnel can immediately reach the spot and take the injured persons to the hospital and it was also told that if any person helps a person injured due to an accident, he will be given Rs. 2000/- by the government (under the Ferishte Scheme).
During the seminar, the people present and the school students were specially told that the helmet you wear for your safety while driving a vehicle should be ISI brand number 4151 because this helmet is recognized by the Honorable Government of India.
S. Karnail Singh PPS Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic finally explained to all the children, teachers, and other school staff that you should inform your family members about the education received from this seminar and make your family members aware of not driving after drinking alcohol and not driving at high speed and motivate them to follow traffic rules. At the end of the seminar, the school staff present appreciated and thanked DSP, Traffic Sardar Karnail Singh for organizing this seminar.
