Trade deal with India soon Trump
Gyeongju (South Korea) - US President Donald Trump on Wednesday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him the 'best looking man'. While Trump described Modi as a 'father', he also called him a 'nailman' and a 'tough' leader. The US President hinted at a trade deal between the two countries soon.
Trump was addressing the CEOs of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation here. During this, Trump again claimed that he personally intervened to avert a nuclear war between India and Pakistan in May this year and gave the two countries a trade deal.
Trump insisted that his personal intervention helped reduce tensions between the two nuclear-armed countries. The US President claimed that seven aircraft were shot down during the confrontation. Trump said he had personally contacted both Prime Minister Modi and the leadership of Pakistan to prevent this conflict and linked this resolution to trade talks.
Trump said, “I am doing a trade deal with India, and I have great respect and love for Prime Minister Modi. We have a great relationship. Similarly, the Prime Minister of Pakistan is a great person. He has a field marshal. You know why he is a field marshal? He is a great fighter. And I know all of them. Seven planes were shot down during the conflict between the two countries. These are two nuclear countries. And they are really working on it.”
The US President said, “And I called Prime Minister Modi and said, ‘We cannot do a trade deal with you.’ I said, ‘You are starting a war with Pakistan. We are not going to do this.’ And then I called Pakistan and said, ‘We are not going to do business with you because you are fighting India.’
They said, ‘No, no, you should let us fight.’ They both said this. They are powerful people. Prime Minister Modi is the best-looking man. He looks like you would want to see your father. He is a very tough and ‘nail-biting’ personality.”
The US President also compared his handling of the situation to former US President Joe Biden. He questioned whether Biden could have achieved similar results.
