To end discrimination caste needs to be erased from the mind Mohan Bhagwat
New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has said that if caste discrimination is to be eliminated, then caste will have to be erased from the mind first. Bhagwat said at a public seminar held here on Saturday, "Earlier, caste was related to profession and work but later it entered the society and became a reason for discrimination." The seminar was organized to celebrate the centenary year of the RSS, in which he interacted with the public. State Sanghchalak Anil Bhalerao was also present on the stage.
Speaking on the problem of casteism, Bhagwat appealed to the people to erase it from their minds. He said, "To end this discrimination, caste should be erased from the mind. If this is done honestly, casteism will be eradicated in 10 to 12 years." In response to questions from the audience, Bhagwat said that the aim of the Sangh is to take India to its highest glory, as well as to take society along with it.
He said that the Sangh works for nation-building through character building of the individual and it is not an organisation established in reaction, nor does it compete with anyone. He said, "The aim of the Sangh is to take India and the entire society to its highest glory. The Sangh does not want to make itself big; it wants to make society big." He said that if people want to understand the Sangh, they should come to its branches.
