Tips given to patients at PHC Boothgarh to beat the heat
Majri/Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, May 21, 2026:- Patients and other visitors at the Primary Health Center (PHC), Boothgarh, were sensitized about taking precautionary measures to protect themselves from the extreme heat. Under the guidance of Senior Medical Officer Dr. Alkajot Kaur, Dr. Arun Bansal in his address stated that heatwave conditions are prevailing currently, during which maximum fluids should be consumed, including plain water, buttermilk (lassi), lemon water, juice, coconut water, and ORS solution.
He advised people to avoid going outdoors between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM or during peak afternoon hours, as solar radiation and heat are extremely high during this period. In addition, special care must be taken of children and the elderly. He mentioned that windows and doors of houses should be kept closed during the daytime, and one should cover their head and wear sunglasses while stepping out. If outdoors, look for a cool spot to sit, such as under a tree or any other shaded area. Do not go out barefoot. Drink water every half an hour. Always carry water along when going out in the sun. Fried, outside, and stale food should be avoided.
He further added that cooking should be avoided during peak heat hours. Keep the kitchen area well-ventilated. Never leave children or pets inside a parked vehicle. Avoid going into strong sunlight. Refrain from consuming alcohol, tea, coffee, etc. Do not eat stale food. Avoid strenuous physical activity as much as possible. Dr. Tapinder Singh was also present on this occasion.
