Timings of District Government Hospitals Changed Now to Open at 8 AM

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, April 15, 2026:- The opening and closing timings of government health institutions in the district will change effective from April 16 (Thursday). Providing this information, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain stated that government health institutions in the district will now open at 8:00 AM and close at 2:00 PM. These institutions include the District Hospital Mohali, Sub-Divisional Hospitals at Kharar and Dera Bassi, all Primary Health Centers (PHCs), Community Health Centers (CHCs), Ayushman Health and Wellness Centers-Sub-Centers, Aam Aadmi Clinics, and ESI Hospitals, among others.
It is worth mentioning that the working hours of the District Hospital Phase-6, Mohali, had already been changed to 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, which has been in effect since April 1.
She further explained that as per the instructions of the Punjab Government, registration counters in hospitals will open half an hour before the scheduled opening time of the hospital. This is to ensure that queues do not form during the slip-making process and patients can undergo their check-ups and treatment comfortably and on time.
Dr. Jain informed that emergency services in government hospitals will continue 24 hours a day as before. She clarified that the working hours for the Civil Surgeon Office Mohali and other administrative offices within the hospitals will remain from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM as usual, with no changes made to these timings.
Notably, the summer timing for government hospitals (from April 16 to October 15) is 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, while the winter timing (from October 16 to April 15) is 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
