Ratia, February 21: The Employment Cell at Shaheed Davinder Singh Government Postgraduate College for Women, Ratia, organized two special lecture sessions aimed at career advancement for female students. The main themes of the program were "Learn to Control the Interview" and "Effective Introduction." The keynote speaker for both sessions was Dr. Mohinder Kumar, Assistant Professor of English, CMG Government College for Women, Bhodia Kheda.
In the first session, Dr. Mohinder Kumar explained the entire interview process step-by-step. He explained that confidence, subject knowledge, body language, time management, and a positive attitude are crucial in an interview. He also shared strategies for answering commonly asked questions, stress management, and practical tips for balanced communication in panel interviews. Students were shown real-life examples to demonstrate how to effectively showcase their abilities during an interview.
In the second session, "Effective Introduction," the speaker described self-introduction as the first step to a career, stating that a concise, clear, and purposeful introduction makes a positive impression on the recruiter. He explained techniques for creating an effective introduction by combining educational background, skills, achievements, and career goals. Students presented their introductions through mock activities, and the speaker provided useful suggestions.
College Public Relations Officer, Prof. Surendra Sharma, reported that in his address, College Principal, Paramjit Sandha, praised the active role of the Employment Cell and stated that the college's objective is to empower students not only academically but also practically. Prof. Jasbir, in-charge of the Employment Cell, expressed his commitment to organizing such skill-based programs in the future.
The program concluded with a question-and-answer session, which was enthusiastically participated by students, particularly Sakshi, Pawandeep, Simran, Nisha, Roshni, and others. The lectures provided valuable insight into interview skills and practical aspects of effective communication, which will help them build bright careers. Prof. Ashwini Ranjan, Dr. Sain Kumar and students were present on this occasion.
