Threeday Punjab Sakhi Shakti Mela concluded with pomp and show

Nawanshahr:- The three-day Punjab Sakhi Shakti Mela, being held at the ground of the local ITI under the Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission by the Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Punjab and the Industries and Commerce Department of the Punjab Government, concluded with pomp and show. The last day of the fair, organized under the guidelines of Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh, was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Avneet Kaur, Chairman Nagar Sudhar Trust Satnam Singh Jalwaha, Vice Chairman Technical Education and Industrial Training Lalit Mohan Pathak, Chairman Market Committee Gagan Agnihotri.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Avneet Kaur said that this three-day fair started on February 5, which has received a good response from the people. People have given women an opportunity to become self-reliant by participating in the fair in large numbers. He said that around 58 different self-help groups had set up stalls in the fair.
In which stalls were set up for household items, handmade household items and organic products, pickles, marmalades and jam stalls, mehndi, perfumes, candle stalls, cultural programs, nail art, swings for children, tattoo art for youth, live sketching and live food stalls were set up. He said that the self-help groups will benefit a lot from this fair and it will help them to increase their business. Chairman Nagar Sudhar Trust Satnam Singh Jalwaha said that Punjab Sakhi Shakti fairs are being organized in the state by the Punjab government to promote women empowerment.
He said that to give equal rights to women, self-help groups are being run in the villages in order to make Sakhi Shakti a success in the entire Punjab by the Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann and a platform is being provided by these groups to sell their handmade products.
He said that all the stalls set up in this fair have been set up by our sisters. He said that the main objective of this fair is to make women successful so that they can increase their income and take their families forward in a better way.
