Those raising fingers on qualifications of government school lecturers should desist

Explaining the matter in detail, he said that the department has fixed the eligibility for these promotions as MA + B.Ed with five years of experience. He informed that the lecturers who are currently being considered for promotion have more than 25 years of experience, and among them, 10% are PhD holders, 20% M.Phil / M.Ed / LLB / Master of Mass Communication or possess two to three MAs in different subjects. He further stated that nearly 25% of school lecturers possess qualifications equivalent to college or university level. Along with this, these lecturers also have 15 to 20 years of administrative experience (including DDO powers or as in-charge).
Chief advisor of the union Sukhdev Singh Rana said that many lecturers have already established their excellence by receiving State Awards from the Punjab Government and National Awards from the Government of India. Moreover, a large number of lecturers have also cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission.
State General Secretary Sardar Balraj Singh Bajwa said that at a time when nearly 1100 senior secondary schools in Punjab are lying vacant without regular principals, these school lecturers are managing the schools along with teaching their subjects.
State General Secretary Sardar Ravinder Pal Singh said that allowing highly qualified and long-experienced lecturers to render services as principals is a commendable step of the government, which the union wholeheartedly welcomes.
In this regard, State Press Secretary Sardar Ranbir Singh Sohal said that some cadre-envious elements are trying to tarnish the image of the cadre in society by undermining the qualifications and experience of lecturers. Warning such elements, he advised them to immediately refrain from anti-lecturer cadre activities, otherwise the union will be forced to take legal and departmental recourse.
